Our Name and Logo

Futagawa (二川) means “two rivers” in Japanese. This name pays tribute to the Ottawa and Gatineau Rivers, which shape our region and converge at the heart of our community.

Our logo represents these two rivers, as well as the many bridges that span them and connect the two banks. Just like these bridges, judo builds connections between people, generations, and cultures by bringing judokas together around shared values of respect, mutual support, and pushing oneself to new heights.

Water, always in motion, also evokes one of the fundamental principles of martial arts: flexibility. It reminds us that it is often more effective to adapt, yield, and redirect force rather than resist it—a philosophy that lies at the very heart of judo.
